What my feet said about me | Reflexology

I have to get it out there, I love my feet being massaged, I have some friends that cant even stand the thought of their feet being touched but for me its total bliss. So I completely jumped at the chance when AoR (Association of Reflexologists) offered me the chance to have a session of reflexology. I knew a small amount about reflexology, that it was all in the feet and how certain parts of the foot linked up to the rest of the body, but that was about it. They say;

"Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body. Reflexologists believe that working these points or areas aids relaxation and helps improve wellbeing."

When I had my appointment (more on that momentarily) I was amazed to hear how reflexology has been practised for thousands of years, being an ancient therapy that was only introduced into the western world just over a 100 years ago. Reflexology helps promote wellbeing, mood, stress and can aid better sleep and relaxation.

On their website I used the ‘find a reflexologist’ service, where I put in my postcode and found a well trained and insured reflexologist local to me. I informed Jayne of my availability and arranged to go to her house where she did the treatments. I had always been to a spa or small salon/spa for previous massages etc so it was new to me to go to someone's house but I am converted. Jayne was so welcoming and being the only client at that time was kind of special, it was all about me, which made it more relaxing and peaceful. Jayne gave me a consultation, asking the usual questions of allergies, previous operations, medication etc etc and processed to explain to me the wonders of reflexology. To be honest I kept Jayne chatting throughout as I love to know everything, I asked what each part of my foot meant and when something felt odd or 'crunchy' as she put it, I wanted to know what it linked to. It was fascinating as she moved along my foot and it just felt nice, then one spot felt odd and she said that was my shoulders, I hadn't mentioned to her that whenever I get massages they always comment on the lactic acid build up in my shoulders as it gets really bad. Again she hit another spot and I said it was really tender and felt great when she was rubbing it, she said it was connected to my hip and ta-da, another link as I have hip dysplacia. I was so fascinated by it all, she wasn't just saying my hip because I had mentioned it, I could actually feel things when she hit certain spots.

After my treatment I felt so relaxed, probably more so if I didn't chat throughout haha, but information is my Zen.

My overall experience with Jayne and the Association of Reflexologists has been great and would highly recommend the website to find someone near you as its an organisation you can trust to provide trained and insured practitioners.

Have you tried reflexology?

Weaning storage solution with Vital Baby

baby food storage

Before I was even pregnant I always knew I would make my own baby food, its cheap, easy and healthy for the baby as I know exactly what I putting into their mouths. My mum told me she used washed out yoghurt pots, which I used at first but its a bit of a faff with the cling-film and stacking in the freezer. When I was sent these Vital Baby Removable Twist ‘n’ Lock Freezer Pods and Tray, it made the storage situation so much more convenient. These are so simple to use and great for when I batch cook, providing a good sized portion for weaning, I love that they are clear also so I don't really need to pop on labels to see what's what. The 2 best features for me are the flexible rubber base which helps when pushing out the food and the tray. The tray makes storing these so much easy and compact as i haven't got little yoghurt pots falling off the shelf anymore, the pods just slip in and then twist to lock them in place, making them sturdy but easy to release. These are definitely the neatest thing in my freezer.

When I am out and about i just grab one of these from the freezer and go as the lids are really secure and these are microwave safe meaning I can heat at home or on the go without taking another bowl to heat them in. They are also BPA free, which is always a must.

I highly recommend this storage system as its so conveenient when making your own baby food. You can pick these up for £5.79 from Amazon, Boots and most major supermarkets and baby supplies.

I will do a post of how baby weaning is going and what I feed my baby in an upcoming post.

What baby weaning accessories do you use?

Sweet Treats for my Sweet

Myself and my husband never go out for Valentines, his excuse is he loves me everyday of the year so does not want to partake in these traditions and waste money. Well he is just a party pooper, and any excuse to have a nice treat I am all over it. I started a little tradition about 10 years ago where I'd buy him a heart cookie or gingerbread, sometimes changing it up to a heart shaped pork pie, anything he can eat and he is happy. This year I'm thinking to go a little further and doing a full 3 course meal, with wine and then the sweet treats. Now my husband will moan if I spend a lot of money on Valentines but I am glad to see Morrisons have made it easy for us to have a special night in with their dine in meals, which more importantly I can pick up with this weeks food shop (2 birds, 1 stone).

Myself and Khila had our very own Gal-entines night whilst we were both child free, and husband free. We had the meal and the wine (both delicious I might add) and chilled in front of the TV with our adorable gingerbreads and cupcakes. My perfect night out has always been a night in and I don't feel we compromised on quality.

Will you be spending your Valentines night in or out?
