Wedding Lust List - Lipstick Edition

So…….. I have 107 DAYS till my wedding (6th December if you wanted to know). Luckily I am an uber organised person, my dress was bought in January, shoes are sat waiting in the box, invites have been sent out, caterers booked, you name it, it’s done.

Well except when it comes to my next up!!!

I basically mean my hair and makeup, I want it perfect, as you do for your big day. So I have purposely not thought about it till now, I wanted to get everything out of the way so I can spend 3 months preparing. I have a lot of makeup I am happy with and will use but there is something about a new lipstick and compact that makes me salivate (TMI?) I want to invest in a  couple of pieces that are timeless and I will keep forever, to show my kids when they are older (if they are girls, OR boys into makeup lol) I already  have my perfume, its ‘Lancome Le Vie est Belle’ mmmmmm you must smell. The next 2 items that I definitely want is a beautifully packaged lippy and powder compact THEN I might consider a foundation and eye shadow palette, but these are the musts.

I was going to do a combined posts on powders too but the list grew and grew.

Basically I have no idea about these lipsticks, I have never tried any, I need your opinions, I want it to look stunning and also be a nice lipstick.

Which one…help? (this is not colour specific) Or suggest others. But this is my lipstick lust list….enjoy the beauty!

  1. I think you can't go wrong with the YSL Rouge Volupte or the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine :)

  2. I love this post. I have to say I've only tried the YSL rouge volupte and the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine But I do like both of them.

I slightly prefer the rouge volupte though. They have great pigmentation and feel amazing on the lips. They're staying power is alright too.

  3. I can be more specific about two of these - Rouge G and Lancome. Let's start with Lancome - they smell amazing! They are not long lasting, I would say they last the same time as the Rimmel by Kate ones, which is OK, but for a wedding I would opt for something with bigger longevity. The packaging looks nice, BUT it gets ripped of really easily and it's definitely not something that will look the same in 20 years. Honestly, it just two years it will look like a junk even without carrying in your handbag.
Rouge G - I love everything from Guerlain except their eyeshadow. I own two Rouge G's and love them both. The lipstick bullett is probably the nicest lipstick packaging I'm aware of. It screems luxury also because of its weight (it's really heavy for being a lipstick). This is definitely something that's gonna look untouched after many many years. And the formula? My shades have bold colour, what you see in the bullett, that's exactly what you're gonna have on your lips. In terms of longevity, it stains like crazy. You actually have to remove it with your make up and even the next day I can see a light stain, which can be a little bit annoying for somebody, but I don't mind it. The only downside is that it can dry out your lips after a few hours of wear. Nothing what a lip balm couldn't fix. And I definitely prefer Rouge G over the Kiss Kiss range. I've seen the fall collection of Rouge G and I'm definitely getting one shade just because of the screen-printed dotted Swiss veil, it's just lust!

  4. YSL lipsticks are my favourite but I wore the Lancome Nu Rose in shade 06 for my wedding and it is a gorgeous colour. It isn't too much I would recommend picking a mini version of it up offline to test it

  5. I love my YSL Rouge Volupte - so creamy and leaves a nice stain on the lips. I also have the Chanel coco shine but would go with the YSL over the Chanel.

  8. I've only ever tried the YSL rouge volupte shine ones and dior addict and they are both so nice! I slightly prefer YSL mainly because I am a magpie and the packaging is beautiful. Really the most important thing to remember is to prepare your lips well and make sure they're exfoliated because then every lipstick will look nice! I think a good idea is to go to your local boots or debenhams and just go to the counters and then if you just mention that its for your wedding and your browsing, then you can make a list of what you like the most. I hope you find the perfect colour and formula and have fun whilst doing it! :) x
