Liquorice Balm

Now I am a sucker for lip balms, I own way too many but this doesn't stop me from getting more. I have them by my bed, desk, in my living room ,each bag and coat pocket, I always have one (or several) in reach. I never have a preference with flavour, but I do like to have a variety of flavours to choose from.

One thing I have learnt over the years is a lot of lip balms just aren't moisturising, they are largely full of petroleum, which is just a barrier, doesn't let moisture in or moisture out. That being the case I have tried to stick to natural over the last 4 or 5 years, and surprisingly these don't cost much more.

One I have had rotation for the last month and a half is this Liquorice Balm* from This is one of those balms you can use for pretty much anything, lips, cuticles, chapped skin etc as its all natural, its only has 6 ingredients - Prunus Dulcis, Persea gratissima, Beeswax, Illicium Verum, Glycyrrhiza glabra (3%), Vitamin E.

It is such an odd consistency in comparison to what I was used to with other lip balms, this is solid but just melts on contact, sinking straight into the lips, almost like putting an oil on, you feel like you are just adding goodness to your lips. Also due to the melting consistency you can pop on a light layer or build it up like I do for bed time.

The 30g pot will last you for ages being 50% bigger than a Vaseline pot. You can pick this up online from for £7.95 (currently 3 for 2).
